My Mothers Day began with a delicious breakfast out (more on that) at a new cafe down the road called Poppy's. I'd heard from Twitter that Adventures in Flowers would be running a pop up florist there, so I gave Matilda strict instructions to wait until Sunday for my floral treat.
I was not disappointed, tall bottles and spice jars filled with pretty blossom, ranunculus, rosemary and olive branches. So delicate they appeal to the whimsical waiting to be released in all of us.
The theatricality in these flowers came as no surprise when I discovered Adventures in Flowers was founded by Anna Collins who spent 13 years working in Theatre before training as a Florist. Do have a look through her pretty website with wonderful examples of her work for events such as weddings, parties in unique venues such as Wiltons Music Hall. Do keep an eye on the website for her pop shops dotted around London, she's definitely one florist worth watching out for as she creates her own style and develops her own voice amongst the floral community.
Anna is a lovely woman to talk to, very modest about her talents yet infectiously enthusiastic about her venture. I could identify with her as we both come from a theatrical background doing something different now for our own reasons. Good luck Anna and Adventures in Flowers looking forward to more pop ups. Very reasonably priced (all under a tenner) so there is no excuse to come away with several little jars!
